Mom transforms American Girl doll into a boy for her son
So Nicholas’ mom, Ivette Martinez-Matejko, was a little surprised but happy to oblige when her young son asked for a doll. But not just any doll. He wanted one that resembled him and came from American Girl, the popular doll retailer where his big sister got her Isabelle doll.
When he learned there wasn’t one, Martinez-Matejko turned to the Internet and found that others had taken this matter into their own hands. She purchased a $40 secondhand, one-eyed American Girl doll, and with some TLC and a haircut, transformed it into an “American Boy” doll for Nicholas
I deny my husband sex because he has abandoned us — Pastor’s wife tells court
A 35 year-old Pastor’s wife, Mrs, Oluwatoyin Olafare, has told a Lagos State Customary Court sitting in Orile that she refused her husband of 18 years sex because he no longer cater for her and the children.
According to the mother of four, who wants a divorce from her husband, Michael Olufare, a pastor affirmed, “I decided to punish my husband with no sex-weapon, because he was no longer caring for me.” She said: “He gives me blow whenever I ask for the children’s school fees and feeding allowance.’’
The embittered wife, who stated that her husband has failed in his role as a husband and a father, stressed that “he abuses my family whenever we have disagreements. He also demands for sex when he does not care if I have eaten or not. So, I do not allow him to touch me anymore”
Oluwatoyin told the court that Michael had abandoned her and their four children at their residence at 56, Surulere Street, Alimosho area of the state.
Micheal, while responding to his wife’s claim, said he agrees to the dissolution of their 18-year old union but however debunked the allegations of battery and lack of care.
He said: “I don’t beat her, but she nags a lot and causes trouble all around the neighbourhood. She is known as a street fighter and because of her attitude, we were sent out of the house. She does not respect anybody including me; when I was transferred to the missionary quarters, she refused to follow me and so I left.”
Real Girls Doing Real Things
Marilyn
For the past year, Miami based artist Marilyn Rondon has been on my radar. At first glance, you're attracted to Marilyn's tattoos: But there's more to her than just that and on one of her latest trips to New York, I had the opportunity to meet up the Venezuelan beauty. While our time together was brief, our conversations from technology to being women of color, had me energized all day. It's safe to say that Marilyn is a radiant soul, inside and out:
How does being a Latina woman influence your style of work?
I think it just makes me more conscious to include more than one race when illustrating. I love playing with colors and being brown gives me such a nice pallet to incorporate so many eye pleasing color combinations.
Although you're a multi-media artist, which medium did you fall in love with first and how?
I’ve always loved taking photos. Although photography I think is the one medium I’m worst at, it’s my absolute favorite thing in the world to do. When I fall in love with a person, I always want to photograph everything about that person so I can freeze time, memories. Whenever I have a partner who isn’t as open to being photographed, or we don’t spend much time together I then tend to carry them into my two dimensional paintings and illustrations and my work becomes my main way of communicating with them directly in a public form, although it ends up going over their heads.
It’s crazy but most of my work is usually for my lover or “muse” and tends to be about how they draw so many emotions out of me. The only way I can humanly process my experience is by making self-reflective and narrative art, or I illustrate song lyrics that I directly relate with in that moment of my life.

Shocking Story Of A Girl Named Amanda
On that fateful day, Amanda was on her way to school when a motor cycle knocked her down!
She was rushed to a nearby hospital immediately. That night in her dream, an old woman in white garment appeared to her and warned her sternly that:"As soon as you are discharged from the hospital, you must wash the blood stains fromthat cloth you wore that day you were involved in an accident otherwise something terrible may happen to YOU!" Amanda thought it was just an
ordinary dream not until she saw the same old woman in her dream again&again&again.... telling her to wash the blood stains from the cloth. This time, Amanda was frightened and told her mother the dream. Her mother simply told her to do exactly as she was told. The moment Amanda got home from the hospital, that very day she was discharged,She soaked the cloth and started washing. She washed and washed but there was still small stain of blood on the cloth because the blood stains had dried already. She got tired and rinsed the cloth like that.It was a white gown. That night in her dream, the same old woman appeared to her again and told her to wash the cloth very well that there was still blood stains on it which may cause something terrible to happen to her. When Amanda woke up, she checked the time, it was 4:00am...everyw here was still dark. She was consumed with fear!,and because she was afraid of the old woman's caution, she got up, took the cloth and started
washing. She scrubbed it so hard that it felt like it was going to tear. Amanda was scrubbing the cloth so hard that tears almost started dropping from her eyes when all of a sudden, someone tapped her from behind. She turned and behold, the old woman in her dream had appeared to her in real life,Out of fear, Amanda got up to run but fell down. The old woman drew closer to Amanda and said softly
"Henceforth! Use ARIEL detergent to do your washings." Lolz

58,000 Nigerians in IDPs camp in Cameroon are traumatized — U.S. envoy
Power made the statement on Thursday in Abuja when she led a delegation from the U.S to visit the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama.
The envoy was in Nigeria and other West African countries to highlight the growing threat posed by Boko Haram.
“We visited IDPs camp in Cameroon that included 58,000 Nigerians; they are so traumatized; every possession has been taken from them.
“We also met some 170,000 Cameroonians internally displaced people; the damaging effects of Boko Haram activities in Nigeria has now spilled over to neighbouring countries,” she said.
The envoy expressed concern on the number of Nigerians who had crossed the border to seek refuge in neighbouring countries due to Boko Haram attacks.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Power had earlier announced U.S. donation of additional 40 million dollars in humanitarian aid for victims of Boko Haram attack in the Lake Chad region.
She said that about seven million people in the region were displaced, deprived and plagued by disease as a result of armed conflict in Nigeria.
She said that due to the prolonged crisis, communities who have hosted IDPs had exhausted their resources and find themselves struggling to make ends meet.
Power said that President, Barack Obama had sent a 42-member high-power delegation to Nigeria in support of the three priority areas of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
She described Nigeria as a `strategic partner’ to the U.S. not only in Africa but globally.
She said that the delegation would reflect on the three pillars of the Buhari’s administration which are security, economy and governance.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, commended the commitment of the U.S in the ongoing efforts of the Buhari-led administration in spite of its current challenges.
“We cannot thank you enough, taking time off your extremely busy schedule to come and see firsthand, the problems or the challenges that we are facing in this regard,” he said.
The minister said that the delegation was not in Nigeria because of the Boko Haram insurgency alone, but the whole issues of security, governance and the economy. (NAN)

FAAC: FG, States, LGs share N299.7bn in March as revenue drops by N39bn
The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, on Thursday in Abuja said that N299.7 billion was shared among the federal, states and local governments as revenue for March 2016.
Adeosun, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr Mahmoud Isa-Dutse, announced this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting. She said there was a N39.0 billion drop in revenue from the N338.8 billion that was shared in February.
She added that the shared amount comprised the month’s statutory revenue of N232.6 billion.
She noted that “there is exchange gain of N2.9 billion which is proposed for distribution.
“Therefore, the total revenue distributable for the month of March, including VAT of N64.2 billion is N299.7 billion.”
Adeosun also said that N6.3 billion that was refunded to the federation account by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) was also shared.
Giving the breakdown of revenue among the three tiers of government, the finance minister said that the Federal Government received N109.1 billion,
representing 52.68 per cent, while states got N55.3 billion, representing 26.72 per cent.
The local governments, she said, received N42.7 billion, amounting to 20.60 per cent of the amount distributed.
She said N19.75 billion, representing 13 per cent derivation revenue was shared among the oil producing states.
Adeosun also said that during the month under review, the country generated N153.4 billion as mineral revenue and N79.3 billion as non-mineral revenue,
an increase of N23.0 billion and N14.83 billion respectively from what the country generated in the preceding month.
The minister also said that the Excess Crude Account maintained a balance of 2.25 billion dollars, indicating that nothing had been removed or added
since July 2015.
She pointed out that acts of vandalism on oil pipelines among other factors had continued to negatively impact on oil revenue generation.
According to her, there is a significant decline in incomes from Petroleum Profit Tax and Companies Income Tax.
She, however, reiterated government’s stand on diversification of the economy, stressing that it was on course and that all measures were being taken to
achieve the goal.
